Chief Deputy Nick Robertson
Chief Deputy Nicholas Robertson is a 2001 graduate of Emanuel County Institute (E.C.I) in Twin City.
After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. After basic training, he was stationed at the HHC 10th Mountain Aviation Division located in Ft. Drum, NY.
Nick graduated from the Augusta Regional Police Academy on September 29, 2009 and began his law enforcement career.
Nick worked as a police officer for the next two years before joining the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office in 2014.
Nick started out as a deputy in the uniform division before being promoted to investigator.
On January 1, 2021, Nick was appointed as Chief Deputy where he still serves Nick completed his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2020. He minored in Biblical Studies. He completed his masters degree in Human Services Counseling in 2022. Nick’s area of expertise is in Marriage and Family Counseling. He obtained both of his degrees at Liberty University.
Nick has been serving on the board of trustees at the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home / Herrington Homestead since 2015. He is also a member of the Swainsboro Downtown
Development Authority.
Nicholas Robertson is the husband of Lenora, a father of 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Major west bedgood
Major West Bedgood is a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He is the son of David and Angie Bedgood and is the youngest of 2 children. West is a 2010 graduate of Swainsboro High School.
West began his career with the Sheriff’s Office shortly after graduating. He has worked all four positions at the jail over the last twelve years. During this time, he learned all the ins and outs of the jail.
West is a certified jailer and law enforcement officer. He attended jailer school at the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and basic law enforcement training at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
West was appointed Jail Administrator in November of 2020.
In February 2023, West was appointed Major and third in command of the entire agency. He serves a dual role assisting the Sheriff and Chief Deputy commanding the agency while still serving as Jail Administrator.
West is married to Lauren and they have two children.
